it’s not right

November 30th, 2009

It’s not right that when delivering a steamed lobster to a table the other night, I introduced him as my friend Sam, and told the diner to ‘enjoy’.

It’s not right that I get tired around 7:30pm and around 11pm I’m all hopped up again.

It’s not right that I wish I was still in a third-world country because everything is so expensive in this one.

It’s not right that I wish there were more hours in a day – I can’t catch up with watching Heroes when I have to work!

It’s not right that I’d rather play video games than socialize, then I get frustrated when I want to hang out and other people are busy.

It’s not right that people buy funeral plots ahead of time – I think that’s the most morbid thing I’ve ever heard of.

I’m sure there’s more that’s not right, but at the moment I’m going to make a liquid by boiling an animal carcass in water.  That’s not right, either.

Today

Took sleeping pill at four-thirty, slept til 10:30. Up, ate, took two more. Am fading again. This idea of sleeping through the bad days seems like a good plan. I’ll let you know how it works out.

took it down

I had just posted late last night about an internet dating experience I had recently.  If you read it, awesome.  If not, I’ll be reposting it after it has gone live on Intrepid Media, as I edited it a little and submitted it as my Lifestyle/Pop Culture column for the month.

The column I had already submitted was vaguely depressing, actually, and I’ll be happy to repost it on here.  It stemmed from a conversation had on the front page of my facebook about tolerance and somehow morphed into religion.  As it does.

So, my apologies for not having left the internet dating entertainment story up, but it’ll be up soon, I promise.  This dating thing is hysterical, tragic and overrated.  I almost wish I had stayed married.  Almost.

I didn’t make it to the hockey game last night, because work ran late.  But as it turns out, Nick and Jenna ended up not going anyway, so I didn’t miss too much.  I’m hoping to head to see the Checkers with them sometime soon.  I do love minor league hockey!

I think I got asked out on a date, as mentioned on Twitter, but inviting a girl over for “the new Call of Duty or Madden” isn’t quite as exciting as you might imagine.  Or is it?  What could be better than a Friday night spent blowing shit up and watching Brett Favre throw one into the end zone?  Actually, I might have to take him up on that offer, because that sounds really fun.
