got a column due, and ridiculous cramps

September 14th, 2008

That might be considered too much information.  really, though, I don’t care.  I’m still trying to enjoy my time with my family, but of course Mother Nature figures it would be a fantastic time to bring me a gift.

It is ridiculously hot down here in the south.  Humid.  Sweaty.  My hair is…frizzy.  My skin…we won’t even talk about that.

I went to Target today (Super Target, yay!) and did something I really love to do:  spent money on someone else.  My little sister, Kelsey, and I went shopping for my Grandparents, buying them staples and treats.  I had a fantastic time coming up with awesome ideas that led to great memories from my childhood.  Mint Milanos and the house on Highland Road was one of them.

Quality time spent with my little sister is always one of my favourite ways to spend the day. We went to Old Navy for jeans and a couple tops; Just Fresh for the best Pimiento Cheese EVER; the bank to get money out and Bojangles for lunch after a busy day of shopping.

I need to blog about seeing some of the most amazing places in the world!  I went to Cairo, man!  I went to Mumbai, India!  I’ve seen Sao Paulo, Moscow, Rome, Pisa, Barcelona…it’s amazing and overwhelming and too good to be true!  I have pictures of Cairo and Mumbai.  I will get those posted to Flickr as soon as possible.  I had the ones from Cairo up, but then deleted the individual pictures.  I thought that since they were in an album, I didn’t need the individual slideshow.

I was so wrong.  So sadly wrong.

Anywho, so that’s soon.

Adrian is headed down to NYC on the 15th, which is lovely.  We have a DATE planned.  A date.  A real date.  I have no idea what we’re doing, but by GOD we’re going to enjoy some of our last warm days in the city as he buckles down for work.

I’ve finally used my insurance this last week and gone to see a doctor to get a physical, been to the dentist to have a cleaning and gotten a new pair of glasses!  I go back for a filling on Tuesday, which isn’t too bad considering that I haven’t had insurance in three years, I figure one filling is a pretty fair trade.  I’m headed to another few appointments next week, as well as an orthodontist, since I need a couple teeth pulled because I have crowding.  Which is a technical word for TOO MANY TEETH.

My biggest dream is having straight teeth.  They were straight before my EIGHT wisdom teeth came in.  I want to see a beautiful smile again.  Maybe we’ll discuss my been-broken nose at a later date.

things to do while in the Carribean…

September 2nd, 2008

This month, I bid for my favourite layover:  Guyana.  While I really (REALLY) hate the people and how stressful the five and a half hour flight is, the 48 hour layover in the carribean is quite nice.  The food is cheap, the booze is cheaper (although I’m on a cleanse, so that doesn’t do me any good to know) and the weather is consistently beautiful.  I sleep late, I eat well and I swim and sunbathe a LOT.

But I also have work to get done.  So, as an update and a reminder to myself, this is my to-do list:

  1. IM2007 blurbs.  Must write up blurbs for two of my columns from 2007, as well as a brief ‘What 2007 Meant To Me’ something or other.  Get to Joe immediately.
  2. Column due 9/18.  Figure out which of the thousand ideas i have jotted down is going to be my focus and WRITE IT.
  3. Piece together the snippets I’ve made note of for my next writing idea.  Get at least an outline down.  Might be for NaNoWriMo this year, might be for another screenplay.
  4. Work on editing my screenplay.
  5. Also, last but not least: Sleep.  A lot.
