It’s definitely worth the wait
Something like three or four years ago, I decided that I wanted to sell my jewelry online – with my own website. I bought a web domain and figured out hosting. Easy peasy.
Then I sat there with an empty page and thought ‘Well, what now?’
I tried yahoo pagebuilder until I realized it sucked so hard it could swallow a black hole with nary a belch. I downloaded Dreamweaver and tried to teach it to myself. I didn’t do too bad with the code I stole from other websites. Not…too…bad…
I somehow managed to convince my friend Thomas in Maryland, a friend from the dark ages of college, to take some of his time to help build me a site. It was lovely – but since I wasn’t making jewelry at the time that amounted to anything – it didn’t do me a lick of good.
Over the past three years, I spent a lot of time, energy and money exploring jewelry design and really finding my own particular style. As it turns out, my ‘particular style’ is inspired by so many different things, it’s hard to pin down to one word or a short phrase. After all is said and done, I just love to create handmade, beautiful things that people will love.
Today, my dream website is finally finished – clean and simple lines, funky moving parts and an overall lovely design. It suits me, and it suits my jewelry style and – I think – what my customers are looking for.
I hope you enjoy the new look of tokitikki design, it’s been a long time coming, but it’s definitely worth the wait.

And furthermore, do you know how STUPID you sound?
It is … do you see what time it is, just now as I post this? It is currently 11:45, we are trying to read ourselves to sleep in anticipation of a LONG day tomorrow at the head office. Do you know what I hear drifting quite steadily through the window?
Apparently, there is a party of some sort going on at, near or around the beach. I know this because all I can hear – repeatedly, mind you – is that horrible ‘WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo!” sound, the drunken mating call of the Average Asshat Male. And the resounding call, more of a gurgling ‘Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaww!” vomits forth from the mouths of those who are known as Dumb Twats who are ‘soooooo drunk’ and can be taken easy advantage of.
Enough with the yelling, retards. You sound like pig farmers in mating season. Say something! Use your effing words, you damned Neandertal! There is a brain in there, if it hasn’t been thoroughly soaked in the Gin of Life and set on fire as a prank perpetrated by one of your own frat brothers. Grow a clue and use it. Go home. Get off my beach. Your disgusting manners and filthy habits are what makes nature want to smother us all. Quit depositing your vile cigarette butts in the grass, sand, trees, potted plants and other people’s drinks. Quit splashing your abhorrent American beer (quite possibly Canadian, but only the shitty kind) into your noxious pie-hole in a misguided attempt to make yourself feel better for having a crappy day job and a worse social life. You are not fooling anyone.
You are pissing me off, because I want to RELAX. I hate you. Go home.
(PS. I swear to god I will take my Midol tomorrow. I really will. But for now, fuck off.)

Day 912: Stargate, something. Captain’s log: I’ve lost my toupee and girdle, and I can’t leave my room.
This week (knock on wood) has been less stressful than most of the last 15 weeks – we’ve had a bit of time to breathe and relax. Which, of course, means I don’t have an excuse for not writing in the blog. Mostly, it’s been a non-issue. The free time has been spent reading and a little bit of on the beach and a lot of walking around. Tuesday we had sushi with a nice old lady in the building. She doesn’t speak much english, but she wanted to thank us for helping her move in and putting furniture together for her. Needless to say, we picked the cheapest place we know. Adrian thinks she was disappointed it was so cheap – she wanted to do something nice for us and felt that the dinner wasn’t enough.
Wednesday we went to Playland at the PNE with work. It was delicious having a paid day off! (Playland is like Carowinds, in case you need a reference, but in my opinion it’s smaller.) Short lines, and great weather made for a long day of rides – so much so that I needed a day of rest to recover. Holy sore muscles and cracky neck.
Thursday I turned a quarter of a century old. I am now…(cue scary music) 25. We spent the day walking around downtown – we picked out Adrian’s wedding band (yes, we’re good at leaving stuff until the last possible minute), got a new pair of jeans for me (since the old ones have managed to continue to rip, leaving me with a hand-sized hole in my bum cheek), some cute leather wrist thingies, the third book to a quadrillogyatmistacl6y (yeah, I have no idea), and a yummy dinner at the keg. we got surprised first thing, though, with my doodle-bug Zae at 10 am, knocking on the door. When I opened it, there she was – the cutest almost-three-year-old you’ve ever seen, holding a big bunch of star-gazer lilies (my favourite!) and wishing me a happy ‘berfday’. Holy crap, birthdays don’t get much better.
Friday (last night), Cynthia put together a lovely Bridal Shower kind of thing for me. It was slightly last minute (because of me not getting back to her quickly enough), so only she and Natalie could rearrange their schedules to hang out and celebrate the getting of the married. We hit Las Margaritas in Kits for some fish tacos and fajitas (DELICIOUS!) and some fabulous (and very tart) margaritas. We ended up not going dancing after all because we had stuffed ourselves on the delicious food. I made the call to go rent a movie and sip champagne in the privacy of our own home. Mmmm, champagne and mango lemonade – magnifique!
That’s my week, and it’s been an amazing time. Thanks for making my 25th birthday and almost-marriedness so awesome.
