my grandad goes to the doctor this morning to find out what’s going on with his leg. It can go one of three ways, we think.

1. no surgery, must live with sometimes constant pain in leg and occasional numbness of foot.

2. surgery, with months of recovery time and hospitalization due to blood thinners and not healing well when you’re old.

3. … I don’t want to say it. but it’s worse than surgery because it means that surgery will not fix the problem. but, it might be an option. which will be very hard for everyone involved. not just my grandfather, but my grandmother as well.

I’m sad and frustrated because I can’t do anything. But we’re going to get through it, so here’s my fingers crossed and prayers sent.

because I don’t already have enough to do

Seriously, I’m averaging five hours of sleep a night. This is a girl who would sleep for twelve and then take a nap in the afternoon if she could. It is AMAZING how much sleep I can get and not be cranky.

Last night I packed up my second suitcase. It contains (and I’m generalizing here) roughly four pairs of pants, three suit jackets, thirteen balls of yarn, a pair of boots, a pair of heels, my favourite tea mug, seven shirts, seven books, three formal dresses, a scarf and all my knitting supplies. I hope it meets weight requirements.

My first suitcase is slightly smaller and will hold everything else, including the skin care line I’m now selling, more books, the rest of my clothes, a few dirty magazines and a partridge in a pear tree.

Kidding about the partridge.

If I send myself these other four small boxes (containing books I can’t live without), I will be fully moved – not counting things that won’t fit in the apartment. Like furniture. And, collectors snowglobes that were gifts. You know, stuff.

I am, however, giving away my absolute most prized possession – my vintage 30′s suede coat with the fur collar. It’s just too heavy, and none of the cleaners around here will touch it. They think they’ll tear it up. And I would have to KEEL them. So, their trepidation is understandable.

But for the most part, I’m packed.
